About SSL Encryption

SSL certificate generation

Most hosting providers (should) include an SSL certificate in every hosting package nowadays. For situations where this is not the case, you can generate a free Let’s Encrypt certificate.

SSL enforcement and https redirection

Once an SSL certificate is correctly installed, Really Simple Security will enforce SSL by changing the site URL and implementing the proper 301 redirect to https.

Mixed Content fixing

When your site is loaded over https, but still tries to load insecure resources over http, this is called mixed content. Mixed content may not be properly displayed and prevents you from fully enforcing SSL.
