The Ad Inserter plugin for WordPress was vulnerable to an attack which allowed people with administrative privileges to execute code on the server. This type of attack is called Remote Code Execution, and affected versions of the plugin released before 2.7.11. It was possible due to a vulnerability in the settings.php file which also enabled stored cross-site scripting attacks.
