I have enabled Really Simple SSL in my WordPress website and also enabled the .htaccess redirect.
Now when I try to test the loading speed of the website, it is showing a really high time to first byte on the first load. It is waiting at http://www.sycyoga.com and again at sycyoga.com for a time of 2.5 seconds each approx.
Why is this happening? My site’s home page is only around 1.6MB size.
As you can see, the tests ran after that are showing reduced load times.
I am confused why this is happening. Can you please help me out?
a high time to first byte indicates that the server takes a long time to process your request. This is caused by the webserver and not so much by WordPress. Possibly you are on a shared hosting platform with a lot of sites. I’d suggest to contact your hosting provider about this issue, they will be able to look into this and check why the TTFB is that high.
Thanks so much for your fast response.
I have talked with the web hosting support and they are telling it’s not an issue from their side.
They are telling me to further optimize the website and reduce landing page redirects.
But how do I reduce the redirects?
Thanks so much for your help!
It’s not the redirect that’s causing the site to load slow, even without the redirect (directly requesting the https:// domain), the server still has a long wait time, see https://tools.pingdom.com/#5a148a9d3a400000 for more details about the loading of your website.
