Does RS-SSL work with subdomains on WordPress sites? If so, do the subdomains count as a separate domain, i.e. one of the five included with the Pro subscription? Or if they are connected to the primary domain they subdomains count only as one? Hope that was clear.

Really Simple SSL pro is compatible with subdomains. You might consider purchasing the multisite version of the plugin, which offers one central configuration panel.

If you are referring to generating SSL certificates: generating an SSL certificate is part of the free plugin. To generate an SSL certificate for a subdomain setup you need a wildcard certificate. This is supported, but Let’s Encrypt requires DNS validation for wildcards, which means you need to set a txt record in your DNS settings.

This can be done automatically, but that requires sufficient permissions for the CPanel API on your hosting environment. It depends on your hosting company if that is possible. If this is not possible, you need to renew this manually each 90 days.

If you need any help setting this up, just submit a ticket and we’ll help you out.
