I have activated the plugin and added in my licence key. My website does come up with https but I am getting the following errors:

    ** Detecting configuration **
    plugin version: 2.3.9
Opening testpage to check for ssl:
No ssl detected. the ssl testpage returned an error: Unknown error
    — force ssl: TRUE
    ssl not enabled, show notice

The server is probably blocking the plugin from opening the testpage. To get the plugin to recognize SSL, when you’re in the WP admin, change the url in your browser address bar to https, then hit enter. Then click the “enable SSL” button.

I have the same problem, I can see but when I go to the WP dashboard it redirects to

Even if I manually change the URL to https while I’m in the dashboard it redirects to the home page

    error No SSL detected.
warning HTTP Strict Transport Security was not set in your .htaccess. Enable HSTS
error The native WordPress function is_ssl() returned false
success Great! Your scan last completed without errors.

    Many thanks in advance.

I have the same problem, although when I enter https before the webaddress, I get a 404.. When I go to the main page and change to https, I get this:

    Welcome to [website].com
To change this page, upload a new index.html to your private_html folder

    Any help would be appreciated!

The server needs a symbolic link, for more info see this article:

Thanks Rogier, I will contact my host! Yes I did do a certificate check, it all came back positive; confirming that a Let’s Encrypt certificate is installed.

I have purchased the PRO edition, downloaded the zip, installede the Really Somple SSL plugin on my wordpress, up-loaded the zip add-on, but it does not work? I´m told to “Scan for issues” and get this result:

CSS and JS files with mixed content
These files contain http links, which causes mixed content.
    To fix, follow these instructions
    http link:

    What am I doing wrong?

It’s not likely that twitter javascript file will cause you mixed content. It’s detected as possible issue because it uses an http link. It would have been better if they had used the protocol independent // instead of http://, but in most cases this specific twitter widget.js file does not cause issues.

So based on this output I don’t expect issues when you move to SSL. If you have any issues, let me know.

Hello why really simple ssl not working “not detected” and when I try to reload says 404 error. 🙂

If the 404 page also occurs on the back-end, you may need to check your server configuration. It is possible the SSL request points to a different location on the server, like in this article:

Your hosting company should be able to help you with that.

    I think I have a similar problem.

Most of my site and wp_admin redirects to http when I manually enter https on the front end or in the wp_admin the stylesheets don’t seem to work and all the layout of the site and backend breaks. I have installed the plugin and bought the pro version. but the same issues. Do I need to go through every stylesheet and js file and change http:// to // or am I missing something? Is there an easier way?

    Hi James,

If you type in your site with https, and the site redirects to http, you might have a custom redirect active. Can you send me your domain, or post it here? Then I can take a look.
