Hey there! First off, I adore this plugin and this is the first snag I’ve run into with it.. So hoping it might be a simple fix 🙂
I’ve created a test post to demo the issue, but the mixed content filter is replacing the src attrib of an external image on this page: https://graceconnect.us/test/
That img url is set to http:// in post editing, and gets turned to https:// by RS-SSL, and it’s causing those image URLs to break. I deactivate the plugin and the issue goes way. I don’t have multi-site running, and I don’t have Photon.
Any ideas what may be the issue? Other things to check? I’ve tried changing the mixed content hook (in RSSSL plugin’s settings) and that didn’t seem to have any effect. Thanks in advance!June 20, 2018 at 6:42 pm #106569Greg BurkettGuest
Another note.. Interestingly there’s a href link to the same external site, which correctly gets ignored by the mixed content filter, however the image src url DOES get filtered to https. Odd.June 20, 2018 at 6:45 pm #106571RogierKeymaster
That is the correct behaviour. Otherwise your site will get mixed content, which is not what you want. These images break because these are loaded from a domain without an SSL certificate. The best solution would be to download these to your site instead of hotlinking them. The pro plugin scans your entire site for such images, and offers the option to automatically download and insert them. Or you can do this manually.
That said, there is a way to prevent the plugin from fixing these images, though it is not recommended: your users might get big “not secure site” warnings.
Here’s an explanation how to do this:

Ahhhhhh… DUH. Of course, *facepalm*.
Wasn’t really thinking that through. I hadn’t had my coffee yet 🙂
Thanks for the super fast reply and helpful suggestions.
