So I redirected all http:// links to https:// when adding an ssl to the site. I added a sitemap.xml to cpanel. Now it created an https:// version for that sitemap. But the http:// link for the sitemap redirects to the homepage. I need it to be http:// to submit it to the site. Does anyone know how to do that?

    Hi Carolina,

when you have SSL activated all request will be redirect to https://, thus it should be sufficient to have a https:// sitemap and submit this sitemap to search engines. If you use a plugin for sitemap generation, that probably looks at your WordPress site address to determine if it should be http:// or https://. After moving your site to SSL the site address is https and therefore the sitemap will be generated with https.
