I got an email notice this morning that the cert got renewed and I should restart apache (I use nginx).

I went to check the site and no images were working.

I ssh’d in the vm and restarted nginx. Images still weren’t working.

I logged into WP admin and I had a notice from Really Simple SSL that was the same as the email notice. I clicked on it and images started working.

Really strange! Anyone else run into this?

    Hi Rob,

I haven’t seen this before. What was the notice exactly? Was it the “go ahead, activate SSL” notice?

    Thanks for the reply.

I don’t remember the wordpress notice.

But the email subject is: SSL certificates for (my domain) successfully renewed! Please restart your server.

I guess I’ll see the notice in 90 days again and I can put it here? 🙂

That’s not a message from Really Simple SSL. I guess your certificate was temporary invalid, which caused the images not to laod, now that it’s valid again, everything works again. It’s probably from the renewal service you are using.
